Blog : Spanish Harlem

In the middle of the day, I get off the 6 train at 116th street to a baby crying in a stroller and the lock and key sounds of the turn style from passengers leaving and going in the rush hour fashion. As I reach too the opening of the streets I am introduced to several shouting in spanish and the buses driving away. The aura around me is hectic and all I hear is the movement of cars, people, music, and distant construction working in the far background. This texture of movement is very lively, which relates to the spanish culture of this neighborhood filled with Puerto Ricans and Dominicans. Theres a rhythm that echos in a 1-2-1 step bachata between the engines of the buses and the people talking. As I keep walking children scream as they come out of school and their fast footsteps combining with the casual pace of the middle aged grandmas and adults going to the Cuchifrito sounds like fast tempo beat. This neighborhood brings a latin feel to me as I walk around, and I not only feel the lively spanish beats but also the old Harlem classic tempo of families of generations, combinations of latin and black soul cultures, and the very interactive and busy lifestyle of the small businesses and the struggling lifestyle of this neighborhood. Also with all this actual movement, passing by restaurants with salsa and merengue music playing just adds more flare to the latin feel. You would not believe just 6 stops away on a train this much hispanic culture is so near by Hunter College.

Final Artist Statement

My curiosity lies in the unknown and unfound. People and things that are yet to be discovered. The world itself is my actual muse because it contains so much peoples cultures, different ideas, beautiful, and useful. I intend to become an marketing manager where my art would be that I would not stick to one media but to explore all medias and use my exposure to new artists from musicians to sculptors to non profit organizations and help brand them out.

I believe that anyone with an idea and purpose to change the world for the better should have a chance to express their dream as creatively as possible and are considered artists. This fascination comes from my upbringing of being universally appreciating all things whether arts, music, foods, or literature; they were all one form of living, of communicating in the world creatively. And my worldly appreciation of cultures since I love traveling and have been to 15+ countries.

I secretly believe though that my desire is to specifically focus on marketing musical artist because as a person who has a heart of a dancer and a consistent goer of concerts and live performances, there is a personal attachment where I know the strength of what an musical artist can do to a single individuals life and then what they can do when they branch out to larger amounts of people. When I close my eyes and think passionately who I aspire, I see a man named Scooter Braun. Braun is a man who goes above and beyond to help manage artists who are self made or amateur and lead to not only stardom but to have the world see them as themselves and their natural talents and then also finds and create non profit organizations all around the world to help other children with less resources and try make the world a better place.

Marketing is not a job of career or a muse but more a way of life of communicating. It is impossible to live a life without any sort of involvement in marketing because its the way to self express and inform others around you of what you want to provide for them. I pursue my path in interest to help spreads ideas and good deeds, discover new talents and personal expressions, and use as many medias to promote creativity and become a part of connecting the world.

“Our job is to connect to people, to interact with them in a way that leaves them better than we found them, more able to get where they’d like to go.”

Artist Statement

My ultimate goal from this class is to learn how to work with the film media in where I can help sell or spread an idea or new product and show the unique or distinctive benefit it can bring to the world. I intend to pursue to become an marketing manager and with this career my art would be that I would not stick to one media but to explore all medias and create a certain art with artists of all kinds. I would be in charge of helping artists express what they want how they want it whether something like their personal expression or a non profit organization.

My curiosity lies in the unknown and unfound. People and things that are yet to be discovered. I believe this fascination comes from my upbringing of being universally appreciating all things whether arts, music, foods, literature. The world itself is my actual muse because it contains so much peoples cultures, different ideas, beautiful, and useful. Also my drive of traveling 15+ countries, the world only encourages me more.

Scooter Braun influences me because when i think of him i think of a man who did what it took to get people universal. Braun is a man who goes above and beyond to help manage artists who are self made or amateur and lead to not only stardom but to have the world see them as themselves and their natural talents.

Marketing is not a job of career or a muse but more a way of life of communicating. It is impossible to live a life without any sort of involvement in marketing. Therefore I pursue my path in interest to help spreads ideas, medias of creativity and become a part of connecting the world.
